Wahoo Beef Football

After several years and a proud history of success in the Fremont Jaycee Youth Football League, the Wahoo Beef Football Program is now affiliated with the Great Plains Youth Football League.  Formerly known as the EVW League, the GPYFL offers a professionally managed opportunity to grow area youth in the fundamental elements of contact football in a safe, positive and fun environment.

The mission of Wahoo Beef Football Program is to create a safe learning environment for elementary-aged youth with a focus on consistent and fundamental instruction of the requisite football skills young athletes need to participate safely and eventually at a level that rewards them with both individual and team success.  Team work, fair play, and consistent repetition of safety-based skill training is essential and serves as template for our coaches and our athletes to model.

Wahoo Beef Football offers a full contact, tackle football experience to boys (and girls) in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade.  The cost for registration is $110.  Each player (parent) owns their helmet. The cost of helmets has increased SIGNIFICANTLY in recent years.  Helmets now cost close to $200.  Wahoo Beef Football provides uniforms, pads and practice gear for our athletes.  Local businesses and generous individuals help to sponsor the program allowing for no gate admission or required fundraising.

Practice begins in August and games are played in August and September concluding in October with the League Playoffs.   A combination of home and away games against teams from similar sized communities and schools will be played.  Games consist of four, 10 minute quarters and generally NSAA rules are followed.  The instructional nature of the league allows for competitive play but limits out of pattern scoring and promotes team work, good sportsmanship, and a positive experience for all.  Both local schools are very accommodating, helpful and supportive of Wahoo Beef Football and the Great Plains Youth Football League, which we certainly appreciate.

Individual player registration for the Beef is now OPEN!  League by-laws indicate each team’s roster (Pee Wee and Jr. Midget) must remain within a 30 player maximum, so early registration is highly recommended.  Visit the 'Registration' page for more information.

The Beef coaching staff schedules all relevant activities and team practices to appear on our website on the 'Calendar' page.  Practices normally run 90-120 minutes in length and can be held two or three days per week.  While not mandatory, practice time and participation impacts playing time.
